When John Sees Jesus in Glory

Lessons from Revelation Chapter 1- Poem 1

“Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved” John 13:23 KJV

“And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. And He laid His right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter; Revelation 1:17-19 KJV

John the disciple walked with Jesus
Upon Christ’s bosom John did lean
Jesus looked common- was a human
His great, great glory was concealed

But when John saw Jesus in Heaven
So very high and lifted up
He fell, he fell, at feet of Jesus
He fell -as if he dead became

The Son of Man- the God Almighty
Dressed in a robe reaching His feet
And with a golden girt around Him
His head and hair- were white like wool

His eyes- His eyes were flame of fire
Those eyes can pierce into each being
No creature from His eyes is hidden
But all are naked and exposed

His feet- like fine brass burned in furnace
His voice as sound of many waters
In His right hand- He seven stars held
Out of His mouth- came two-edged sword

And as the sun shines in its strength
His face does shine so full of glory
And when John saw Him… he just fell
But Jesus told him- Do not fear

I am the first and I’m the last
And I am He that lives, lives always
And I was dead. I died, but see:
I am alive, alive forever

I have the keys of hell and death
And you must write the things you’ve seen
And things that will be happening shortly
All of those things, write, make them known

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:8 NKJV

“For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.  And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account” Hebrews 4:12-13 NKJV

“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” Hebrews 4:16 NKJV

  • You Lord are Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End; You was, is and is to come, the Almighty. I believe You, trust You and worship You Jesus.
  • Jesus You live for evermore and You alone have the keys of hell and death.
  • Jesus You are the Word of God. And the Word of God is living and powerful. It is sharper than any two-edged sword and it pierces to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
  • No one is hidden from Your sight Jesus. All things are naked and open to Your eyes and we will all give an account to You Jesus.
  • Thank You Jesus for Your Blood that You shed. It is because of Your Blood that we can come boldly to Your throne of grace! Thank You for this privilege and help us to never neglect coming to Your throne of grace to obtain mercy and find grace and help in time of need.
